I was approached by a client that wanted to gift their wife a jewellery box. The only issue was most boxes that he could find were too small and didn’t have enough compartments to stop the necklaces from tangling when they were put away.
The Problem
We had a few factors to keep in mind for the design. It had to be big enough to hold a variety of the wife’s prised possessions, and of course, look beautiful. The final design included different-sized compartments and featured the use a range of different timber species that compliment each other and have interesting wood grain patterns.
Hurdles
This piece is made up of five different timber species and has three compartments with different sizes ranging from small for rings, ear studs, and small necklaces; medium for larger necklaces and large for letters and other personal affects.
